BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

Are you curious about selling your work on Instagram? Join painter Nicole Drake for a short series of conversations about how you can interact with followers to take custom orders and sell work from your catalog. Nicole has organically grown a strong following for a segment of her work and uses Instagram tools to display work, communicate with potential customers and more. Her method allows artists without sophisticated websites to use Instagram to interact with customers and create sales.

Each meeting will feature a presentation by Nicole and a Q&A session. You’ll be able to act on the day’s information before the next meeting and bring any questions you have to Nicole directly. Registration will be limited to 12 to allow for individual conversation and focused interactions.

If you do not already have Instagram loaded onto your phone, it is recommended that you do so before the first class meeting. Additionally, you will find this Zoom class easier to follow if you use a laptop, desktop or tablet for the experience but keep your phone handy.

Schedule:

  • November 17, 6:30-8:00

  • November 18, 6:30-8:00

  • November 19, 6:30-8:00

Fundraising Series: Making the Ask in Fundraising

Making the Ask in Fundraising_1.jpg

People don’t spontaneously show up at a church on a Saturday afternoon at 1 pm and get married—someone had to ask. And people don’t spontaneously drop bags of money at your doorstep—you have to ask. Solicitation is the smallest step in the fundraising cycle, but the only step that yields results. Come learn how to make the ask and drive results for your arts organization.

The Art of Grief

The Art of Grief_1.jpg

We have all felt some form of loss. A friendship. A job. A loved one. During this pandemic, loss may be taking on a new meaning as isolation and inequities continue to grow. The good news is that we can, and we will get through this, but it takes a community. Participants will learn about common types of grief, what it looks like and when it's unhealthy, and how to help someone you know who may be experiencing these intense emotional feelings. There will also be opportunities for audience participation to learn more about your specific situation.

Virtual Critique for Comic Artists (SOLD OUT!)

Are you a comic artist who wants to connect with other comic artists in our area? Do you have recent work that you want feedback on?

About this Event

Triangle ArtWorks and Durham County Library present Comics Critique with The Triangle Comics Creator Network. Join fellow cartoonists for an afternoon of feedback and constructive criticism, hosted by Triangle ArtWork's Cynthia Deis and Durham County Library's Patrick Holt. Participants will present up to four pages or images (or two 2-page spreads) from an in-progress or completed comics project for open discussion among the group. All genres and approaches are welcome, and we use a very broad definition of "comics" for the event, but participants are encouraged to select excerpts that approximate (at most) a PG-13 movie rating.

As a program co-presented by Durham County Library, participation is free and open to the public, though registration is required and spaces are limited. Participants are NOT required to be residents of Durham or members of the Triangle Comics Creator Network, but you can learn more about TCCN at https://durhamcomicsfest.org/tccn and https://www.meetup.com/Triangle-Comics-Creator-Network.

About the Pratt Mindfulness Collaboratory

The Collaboratory is a Pratt Institute program funded by Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation. Previous research has suggested that developing a mindful way of being through mindfulness practices could help individuals boost creativity in multiple ways including increased focus, idea generation, and flexible thinking. Our project, The Mindfulness Collaboratory study, will help connect the body of research on the impact of mindfulness practices to scholarship on creative economy development. This is particularly relevant given the current COVID19 crisis and its impact on the national and global economy.
