Join Daniel Palmieri, attorney specializing in labor and employment law with Wyrick Robbins, for this information session that covers the basics of worker classification, how to tell the difference between employees and independent contractors, and why misclassification can create real risks. He’ll also touch on key employer responsibilities, including wage and hour rules, anti-discrimination laws, and best practices for handling employee terminations.
Designed for arts administrators, managers, and nonprofit leaders, this practical session is approachable, and focuses on real-world scenarios common in arts organizations.
Bring your questions, there’ll be a presentation followed by time for Q&A, and leave with a clearer understanding of your responsibilities as an employer.
This free discussion is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 12-1:30pm via Zoom. Registration is required and Zoom details will be provided upon registration. The session will be recorded, but we encourage live attendance for those with specific questions.

About The Presenter:
Daniel Palmieri combines his experience in employment law and executive compensation law to help clients navigate complex legal challenges at all stages of the employment relationship. A trusted advisor, Dan pairs practical legal advice with an understanding of clients’ businesses to anticipate and mitigate risks. On employment law matters, Dan regularly counsels employers on compliance and risk management related to state and federal employment laws, including Title VII, the ADA, and the FMLA, among others. Dan also assists employers with drafting employment-related contracts and other documents, including employee handbooksand policies, employment agreements, covenants not to compete, non-disclosure agreements, and separation agreements. Dan earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his J.D. with high honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
