General Information Resources 

National

  • Equity in the Center -  Equity in the Center convenings, tools, and resources equip leaders to serve as change agents who drive race equity within their organizations. We provide frameworks, best practice techniques, and a community of support as leaders embrace race equity initiatives and become more aware of the importance of race equity internally and externally.   • Racial Equity Tools - Racial Equity Tools is designed to support individuals and groups working to achieve racial equity. It offers tools, research, tips, curricula, and ideas for people who want to increase their understanding and to help those working for racial justice at every level – in systems, organizations, communities, and the culture at large. They curate resources that use language and analysis reflecting an understanding of systemic racism, power, and privilege and are accessible on-line and free to users.

  • ArtLifting - ArtLifting is about creating opportunity, empowerment, and validation. They offer artists with disabilities the chance to secure their own income through the sale of original paintings, prints, and products.

Regional

  • South Arts DEIA Workshops - South Arts hosted a pair of online workshops on embracing DEIA values in your organization with Donna Walker-Kuhne, president of Walker International Communications Group. These workshops were offered free-of-charge, and recordings of both sessions are available.

  • Lenoir-Rhyne Equity & Diversity Institute (LREDI) - The Lenoir-Rhyne Equity and Diversity Institute (LREDI) supports, inspires, and equips executives, non-profit leaders, educators, students, social activists, and other community members who intend to spark change and cultivate better communities through their professional careers. LREDI concentrations and courses focus on equitable strategies and practices that can be applied to the professional fields of business, education, and technology, as well as to general community advocacy.

Local 

  • Arts Access - Arts Access provides a statewide platform for sharing information related to arts and disability through their website, social media and e-news. They also organize statewide workshops on topics including educating arts organization staff on best practices for including people with disabilities, arts educators professional development. 

  • Triangle Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Alliance - The Triangle DEI Alliance is leading the effort to make the Triangle region the most diverse, equitable, and inclusive business environment in the country. As the voice of our business community, we recognize that addressing the evolving demographic changes in our region is key to growth and sustainability. We are proud to initiate and support efforts across the Triangle that promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity among our businesses. We will support public policies that promote business recruitment and retention, talent and workforce development, and job creation. The Triangle DEI Alliance is an advocate for measures that will create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive business region. We also do consultations services for organizations! Including: Facility reviews, ADA accessibility plans and Customized trainings.

  • Arts Learning Community for Universal Access - A joint project of the City of Raleigh Arts Commission and the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County to offer arts and cultural organizations the opportunity to join an Arts Learning Community for Universal Access.

  • Racial Equity Institute - An alliance of trainers, organizers, and institutional leaders who have devoted themselves to the work of creating racially equitable organizations and systems. They help individuals and organizations develop tools to challenge patterns of power and grow equity. They also provide services and workshops, research, and more.

  • Awake to Woke to Work -  Get the research that drives Equity in the Center’s data. Ground yourself in the process of building a Race Equity Culture. Explore the levers that drive change and the stages that mark transformation using the Race Equity Cycle. In collaboration with over 120 experts in the fields of DEI and race equity, we provide insights, tactics, and best practices to shift organizational culture and operationalize equity.

  • Race Equity Pulse Check - A tool to assess where organizations are on the Race Equity Cycle. The Race Equity Cycle Pulse Check is designed to do so and provide recommendations on next steps and tools to move work toward the next phase.

  • So You Want to Hire an Equity Consultant - A guide for Leaders and Organizations -  Designed to help nonprofit and philanthropic organizations engage consultants to build a Race Equity Culture. 

  • Racial Equity Tool-Kit - Developed by the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE), a national network of government working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all. “Racial equity tools are designed to integrate explicit consideration of racial equity in decisions, including policies, practices, programs, and budgets. It is both a product and a process. Use of a racial equity tool can help to develop strategies and actions that reduce racial inequities and improve success for all groups.” Intended for government and communithy organizations. 


What Arts Organizations Across the State Are Doing

  • ABC - Charlotte/Cultural Equity Report/2020 - “Our intent is that this report honestly reflects the steps – and missteps – we have taken on our path to becoming an organization where our commitment to equity is reflected in everything we do, from our investments in the cultural community to the make-up of our staff and board. This analysis will direct ASC’s cultural equity journey in the coming year and guide decision-making in all aspects of our work, while also providing a framework for measuring our progress year-over-year and holding ourselves accountable to the community.”
