Cary

Cary Photographic Artists – The CPA seeks to increase awareness of photography as an art form and offer opportunities for display, education and enhancement of photographic techniques.  Their free programs are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at The Cary Theatre, where they host speakers and demonstrations on photographic techniques.  Website

Colored Pencil Society of America – Colored Pencil Society of America District Chapter 114 – CPSA promotes colored pencil as a fine art medium and provides a forum for education, communication and recognition of colored pencil artists.  District Chapter 114 meets six times a year at the Cary Arts Center in downtown Cary, and serves its members through opportunities for education, workshops, networking, and art exhibitions throughout the Triangle and beyond.  District Chapter website  and the National website.

Cary Visual Art – Cary Visual Art’s mission is to promote, inspire, encourage, and support visual art for the uplifting of the human spirit in the Cary Community. To this end, we work with the community to place public art, support exhibitions, participate in festivals and sponsor lecture series and scholarships.  Website.

The Fine Arts League of Cary – The Fine Arts League of Cary (FALC) is a visual arts group of over 200 members including painters, sculptors, photographers and all others engaged in producing visual art as well as those wishing to support these endeavors. Although its home base is in Cary, NC, the FALC membership includes, and is open to, professional, non-professional and emerging artists as well as supporters of the visual arts from any location. Website.

The Professional Art Quilter’s Alliance – South – The Professional Art Quilters Alliance is a group of professional artists from across the southeastern United States who come together to promote innovative art quilts, art cloth, and art garments. PAQA-South members share their collective wisdom and experience to encourage new artists, provide educational programs for its members and the public, and sponsor exhibitions of fiber art. Website.

Triangle Calligraphers’ Guild – The Guild promotes the lettering arts and provides a source of mutual support for those who are interested in calligraphy, painting, bookbinding, lettering, illumination and old manuscripts, as well as the history and traditions of writing, letter forms, tools and materials.  Our members live in the Triangle area and throughout eastern North Carolina.  We meet five times a year, in October, November, February and March, on the second Saturday of the month.  All levels of calligraphic skill are represented in our groups of beginners to professional. Website


Clayton

Clayton Visual Art – Clayton Visual Arts, Inc. is a nonprofit organization of volunteers whose mission is to “bring art to Clayton.” Members include artists and non-artists. The group is dedicated to encouraging artists of all levels and interests to call Clayton their home as an artist’s community. Website.


Raleigh/Wake County

Antfarm – Antfarm was started in 1993 by group of NC State design school students who secured and renovated a 1925 warehouse in Raleigh’s historic Boylan Heights neighborhood. Today, Antfarm is home to a diverse group of artists working in a variety of media (metal, wood, clay, print, paint, drawing, fiber and more) who strive to create exceptional work and share it with the community. The Carter Building  –  The Carter Building at Glenwood South, located at 12-22 Glenwood Ave in Raleigh, NC, houses the studios and businesses of more than 75 creative professionals. An eclectic mix of artists, commercial photographers, design studios, boutiques and yoga are all located under one roof. Virtually all mediums are represented: acrylic, oils, watercolor, pastels, mixed media, photography, clay, and jewelry. Carolina Mixed Media Guild – Founded in 2002, the Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild is a vibrant group of artists dedicated to all things mixed media.  Our members include professional artists as well as those who create simply for the love of it.  Activities include technique demos, field trips, “Play Days”, challenges, swaps, group shows, community outreach, and charitable giving. Triangle Potters Guild – Founded in 1982, Triangle Potters Guild is a not-for-profit organization formed to promote the art and craft of ceramics in the community and to provide a forum for local potters and ceramic artists to share their experiences and knowledge of clay. This knowledge is passed on through guest speaker presentations, member’s show and tell, informative newsletters, workshops, shows, sales and a library that features both books and videos. The Guild is comprised of professional and recreational potters and ceramists, as well as people simply interested in ceramics in the Triangle Area of North Carolina. The guild is open to clay-workers at all levels of experience, and to those who don’t make pottery but are interested in it! Website.

Visual Art Exchange – Visual Art Exchange (VAE) is a non-profit gallery and art association that supports emerging artists through exhibition opportunities (juried, non-juried and curated) and its interdisciplinary art festival, SPARKcon. VAE also hosts monthly artist nights and peer critique groups.  Website.

Wake Forest Guild of Artists – The Wake Forest Guild of Artists, as a group, participates in regular meetings that include a wide range of topics through seminars, demos and socials. The Wake Forest Guild of Artists, partnered with Arts Wake Forest, offers exclusive exhibit opportunities to registered artists. Original artwork is always on display at Wake Med North Hospital and The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, as well as r bi-monthly Receptions. Durham County

Claymakers Studio – A hub for the clay community in North Carolina and beyond, Claymakers serves students, professionals, hobbyists, and collectors alike by providing classes, studio space, a supply store, gallery and more.  Website.

Durham Art Guild – The Durham Art Guild is a nonprofit member-driven visual arts organization established in 1948. For over seven decades we have supported local artists and advocated for the arts in our region. The Guild’s mission is to enrich and connect our communities by creating opportunities and providing leadership for current and future visual artists and art enthusiasts. Website.

Golden Belt Artist Studios – The new Mill No. 1 development at the Golden Belt Campus includes new artists’ workshop with 25 affordable individual studios for fine artists. The most common size of these spaces, 12’ x 12’, are available for $250 per month. The workshop also contains a classroom and a gallery that are programmed by the Golden Belt artists.  Website.

Hearth Studio - Hearth is a budding collective of artists and art therapists with private and shared studios in the Lakewood area in Durham. Our vision is for the space to be a refuge for art-making (including visual arts, music/sound, writing, movement, and more) collaborative art projects, creative classes, meet-ups, inner-care practices, and nurturing relationships to nature. Liberty Arts Sculpture Studio and Foundry – Liberty Arts is an arts collective located on Pearl St in Durham with a foundry in downtown Durham at Durham Central Park. Our mission is to enrich our community with arts experiences that inspire, empower, educate, and entertain. We: facilitate the creation of quality, saleable works of art; attract innovative and accomplished artists; educate aspiring artists and incubate their careers; inspire enthusiasm in our community for the arts; and provide easy access to skills associated with the industrial arts. Our spaces are available for rent on a long-term basis at very affordable prices. Becoming a Liberty Arts Artist is also a commitment to a community. Chapel Hill / Orange County

Eno Arts Mill Studios - The Art Mill Studios are located in a 2,970 square foot space within Hillsborough’s historic Eno Mill. The mill is located in West Hillsborough, within walking distance to neighborhood restaurants and shops. It currently features eleven private studios. Website

Orange County Arts Guild – The Orange County Artists Guild is an inclusive, non-profit organization of “artists supporting artists,” seeking to increase the visibility and recognition of area artists and craftspeople. The Guild was begun in 2000 by a group of diverse artists who participated in the Orange County Open Studio Tour, a popular annual event in the county since 1995. The group is primarily made up of professional visual artists with considerable experience and dedication, but is open to emerging artists who want more understanding of what it means to produce and exhibit their work. The Guild does not place any restrictions on member’s art or craft media, content, or style of work.  Website

Triangle Visual Artists, LLC – Triangle Visual Artists is a group of artists formerly Chapel Hill Art Gallery who are on the move as a virtual gallery. The group is comprised of both 2D and 3D artists looking to exhibit and sell their work in businesses, at special events, and other public venues. Website


Chatham County

Artist Studios at Fearrington Village – Artist Studios of Fearrington Village is a community of visual artists who have come together to support one another, promote our art, open our studios and share our vision of Fearrington Village as an arts destination. Website

Chatham Clay Studio – The Chatham Clay Studio is a new community clay studio in Pittsboro for all No. Chatham residents young and old. More than a year in the making, Chatham Clay Studio is responding to the community’s constant call for a clay studio by bringing a full-service pottery studio to our community. For more information, class schedules and to register for classes, check out our website.

Chatham Artist Guild – The Chatham Artists Guild is an organization of artists whose purpose is to maintain artistic excellence among our members. Our mission is to raise awareness and appreciation for the visual arts (including the cultural and economic contribution it makes to the community, connect our artists and art patrons, and educate the community, and cultivating new patrons, regarding the arts. Website.


Triangle-wide

The Triangle Comics Creator Network – The TCCN is a community of writers and artists who gather regularly to support each other in the creation of comics and graphic novels, whether we are seasoned professionals or just starting out. They provide a directory of comic and cartoon artists along with an active message board. Gatherings include unstructured hangouts, workshops, group outings, and more. Comics-adjacent folks – critics, publishers, illustrators, etc. – are welcome, as are friends and family! TCCN is a collaboration of Durham County Library and Chapel Hill Public Library. Website.
