Photographing Your Artwork

  • The Frontier 800 Park Offices Drive Durham, NC, 27703 United States (map)

Learn how to improve photographs of Your work!

Join photographer Cheryl Gotschall as she walks you through tips to photograph your work, including specific types of photos such as “behind the scenes,” work in progress, and more!

Many artists often look for ways to capture images of their artwork to share with their audience. Have you tried your hand at photography but still are not pleased with your photographs? Do you struggle to share more work on your social media channel simply because you just don’t like the images you’ve taken of your work?  Are you an artist who stresses about the images of your work accurately portraying the work itself?

This 2-hour in-person workshop is for artists who want to learn tips and techniques to document their work and organize their files. Cheryl will guide you through the steps and process to create better images for your website, social media, and marketing. Photography doesn’t stop with taking photographs of your art. You will also learn the best practices for documenting your process (telling the story), organizing and storing your images, and preparing your photos for use. The class will also include a hands-on demo and feedback on any images you have already taken.

Participants should plan to bring the following to the workshop:

• The camera you will use for photographing your artwork (a professional digital camera, a point-and-shoot, or a cell phone.

• Samples/images of your photography that you may have questions about or need help with

• any specific questions about your subject or images
