Advocacy Resources

Triangle ArtWorks works everyday to grow the power and presence of the Triangle Arts Sector. We do this by creating a counterpoint for this Sector, which allows the community to communicate better and build power.  We do it by showing up at local economic development and political events and ensuring that the Arts Sector is “at the table” on local and regional issues.  And we advocate for the arts with local and state leaders. Read more.

You can advocate too!

As a crucial economic driver in the Triangle Region, the creative community needs to make sure that its stories are heard by the Region’s elected officials. Community members need to develop relationships with local government leaders. Our local county commissioners and city council members need to hear from us and know us. They need to hear your stories and understand, in a personal way, the community’s impact on the economy.  If your local leaders hold a “meet the public” type meeting, go and introduce yourself, write a letter, send an email.  Invite them to your shows, events, or openings.

Here are some tools to help you be an advocate for the arts. Contact information for your local leaders is just a click away!

Statewide Advocacy

Arts NC -Arts NC is the best source of information and assistance for advocating for the arts and creative community at the General Assembly and on a statewide basis.  They hold an annual Arts Day at the state legislature and have wonderful resources on their Webpage.
