The Arts Center

The Wynn Theater: With a seating capacity of 355 (general admission), the Earl and Rhoda Wynn Theater provides an intimate experience for performers and audience members alike.  Seating is general admission.  Our stage measures approximately 28 by 32 feet and has played host to hundreds of musicians, actors, puppeteers, dancers and other creative souls.

The West End Theater:  The West End Theater provides a venue that is particularly suited to smaller performances that require up close and personal attention.  Perfect for one-person acts, comedy shows and staged readings, the West End Theatre has been vital in the promotion of local and up-and-coming acts.

Rental Rates: Rates for all rooms: $90 per hour ($70 per hour for non-profits and schools).  Discounted rates are available for lengthy or long-term rentals.  Sound and light technicians, bartenders and other services are available at additional charge. For adult concert bookings contact Art Menius,  for adult theatre and theatrical rentals – Jeri-Lynn Schulke, for non-theatrical rentals – Brad Porter, operations director, for family and childrens performances – Brooke Kesterson, School & Family Performances Coordinator.

 

Carrboro Century Center

Carolina Performing Arts (UNC)

Facilities:

Memorial Hall-  Cameron Avenue, Chapel Hill. Capacity of 1434 (916 orchestra, 518 balcony) Website

Gerrard Hall -The building features a U-shaped balcony with fixed seating and room for movable seating on the lower level. Total seating is 380 (187 in the upper level and 193 in the lower level).  – Standing receptions of up to 200 people may be accommodated on the lower level.  Gerrard Hall is located on East Cameron Avenue between Memorial Hall and South Building.  Website

Information: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill groups have first priority for the use of Memorial Hall and Gerrard Hall.  Non-University events must be compatible with the University’s academic mission and the Chancellor’s Facility Use Policy.  The average cost of a non-University event in Memorial Hall is $3,000-$5,500. The average cost of a non-University event in Gerrard Hall is $450-$1,000. The average cost of a non-University event in Historic Playmakers Theatre is $1,250-$2,250.

Forest Theater

Space:  Outdoor amphitheater on UNC campus. Up to 300 guests. Closes at dusk.
Information:  A non-refundable facility use fee of $500, plus a separate refundable $200 damage deposit is required to confirm a reservation. No alcohol.  Reservation of the theater does not reserve the parking lot.  For more information, and an online application, click here.

Horace Williams House

Space:  The Horace Williams House is an 1840s Greek revival home nestled among two acres of towering oaks and majestic magnolias. Located on Franklin Street in the heart of Chapel Hill’s historic downtown.  Good for small, intimate performances.

Shakori Hills

Space:  Shakori Hills is just 20 minutes southwest of Chapel Hill, NC, near Silk Hope, and just a short drive north of Pittsboro, NC. The site can accomodate up to 2500, price dependent on size of event.  Rental of property includes use of the meadow field, grove stage area, ticket booth, coffee barn, merchandise booth.  Renting party responsible for insurance, trash, recycling, port-a-johns, etc. Electricity for small appliances only.

Southern Village

Facility:  Market Street Southern Village has both indoor and outdoor venues available for rental for a variety of events. The Village Green is a lovely outdoor green space with a brand new stage, and is large enough to comfortably accommodate hundreds of people. The Green is well suited to concerts, art fairs, and other performances.

UNC Department of Dramatic Art

Location:  The Center for Dramatic Art is located on the UNC Chapel Hill campus,  on Country Club Road approximately one block north of the intersection of Country Club Road and Raleigh Road.

Spaces:
Paul Green Theatre – Thrust stage, seats 500.

Elizabeth Price Kenan Theatre – Flexible black box performance space, seats 120 to 200.

These spaces are usually unavailable for outside programming during the academic year.  Best opportunity for outside use is during the summer session. Rental also requires personnel fee.
