At present, Triangle ArtWorks is an all-volunteer nonprofit, led by an engaged Board of Directors and many volunteers. In seven years, we have built a network – both on and off line –  that connects and supports the Triangle arts community. ArtSwell Program Manager

Reports to: Executive Director, with oversight from Board of Directors
Employment Status: Part-time

Triangle ArtWorks mission is to provide the services, support and resources necessary to cultivate and ensure a vibrant creative community in the Triangle region of North Carolina.

ArtSwell is a new Triangle ArtWorks initiative that will build a regional collaborative program to provide more diverse and robust programming to serve all disciplines and stages of career development for the Triangle Region’s arts community. Triangle ArtWorks is developing ArtSwell along with our committed Project Partners: Durham Arts Council, Office of Raleigh Arts, United Arts of Raleigh/Wake, Town of Cary, Orange County Arts Commission, Chatham Arts Council, Visual Art Exchange, and Durham Art Guild.

Primary Responsibilities:

Working with the the Executive Director, as well as the eight program partners, the Program Manager will be responsible for research, planning and development of this new regional program. The ArtSwell First Year Action Plan, attached to this document, will guide this work.
The Program Manager will also support Triangle ArtWorks current professional development offerings by Triangle Emerging Arts Leaders (TEAL) and Law + ArtWorks. This will include working with these groups to develop programs, creating and managing online marketing and registration content, and setting up and running these events.
The ArtSwell Program Manager will represent Triangle ArtWorks at area Triangle ArtWorks and other area events. The Program Manager will also work with other Triangle ArtWorks staff on general strategy for furtherance of Triangle ArtWorks’ mission and professional development for the arts community generally, as well as assist in integration of ArtSwell into Triangle ArtWorks’ other programs.

Work Location:

Triangle ArtWorks’ office is located at the Frontier in Research Triangle Park and will be the primary location for this position, but the work will also require presence at the location of ArtSwell and other Triangle ArtWorks’ events. Working from home will be allowed, as the work allows.

The ideal candidate would have experience in developing educational programming, knowledge of the arts community in the Triangle area, be a creative thinker who knows how to accomplish things independently while also serving as a highly functioning member of a team. Physically, the position requires often requires moving tables, chairs, boxes and other items regularly.

In addition, the ideal candidate would have the following experience:

  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and best practices
  • Strong knowledge of wordpress or other website platform and icontact or other email platforms
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Experience in creating and implementing plans and running meetings
  • Experience working as part of a small team to get things done

Hours and compensation: $14-$18/hour, based on experience. Flexible hours, average around 20 hours a week, depending on workload and events.
