VOLUNTEER NEEDS -

Organizational Administration

Email list development for newsletter and ArtWorks NetWork – Volunteers are needed to collect and develop email lists of possible ArtWorks Network members (from website, current contact lists) This will involve inputting emails into Contactology from the ArtWorks site and can be done independently and on your own schedule.

Site verification – One of the backbones of ArtWorks service to our Community is maintaining an up to date list of Triangle-wide resources and links.  Volunteers are needed to periodically review the site, check links, and keep the resources up to date.  Can be done independently and on your own schedule.

•Volunteer Coordinator – ArtWorks needs a volunteer to create a system to help ArtWorks better provide support and feedback to its volunteers, and work with the Director to manage the volunteer projects.

Marketing/Outreach

ArtWorks NetWork Team –ArtWorks is setting up a team to work on the rollout of the ArtWorks NetWork – A communication network of partner businesses, organizations and individuals that will keep ArtWorks informed of community news and help ArtWorks use their networks to get information out, as applicable to their discipline.  This NetWork will be a powerful tool in pulling the Triangle creative community together, facilitating communication, and increasing the power of the Community to act collectively for community engagement.   The team will also have input in the rollout strategy and implementation.  We are looking for team members to organize the team, be responsible for specific tasks, and help generally with the roll-out.  Specific needs are people with skills in video, PR and marketing, but any person willing to work on this team will be welcome.  The team will be supervised by the Director and the Board’s Outreach/Marketing Working Group.

Newsletter – ArtWorks is active on social media, but does not have a newsletter.  We are looking for the following:

  • Volunteer to create simple newsletter format on Contactology template.
  • Volunteer to edit newsletter monthly.

Creative Support

Expanding Site Resources – Volunteers are needed to research, collect, organize and load information on the website about available resources in the Triangle.  Priorities for addition are as follows, although if a volunteer has a specific area of interest, we are open to other areas too:

  • Adult education in arts and design fields
  • Film/video production

Website news/blogging – We are looking for writers to be regular contributors to the ArtWorks website.  Writers will be given writing “assignments”, both covering local arts community news, as well as feature articles on resources and people who are making things happen in the Triangle.  We are also looking for knowledgeable columnists who are interested in regular opinion columns.

ArtWorks event team: ArtWorks is working towards roll-out of a series of networking events, possibly with a short speaker on a topic of general interest to the creative community.  We have already started building relationships with groups across the Triangle to collaborate on these events.  The team would need to work on solidifying these collaborators, set a schedule, decide on speakers/program, plan how to promote (hopefully using the ArtWorks NetWork) and provide support at the events.  At this time, the idea is that the events would occur quarterly.  This Team would be assisted by the Director and the Creative Support Working Group.

Creation of online “tool-box” for pop-up shops – A initial priority for the Creative Support Working Group is to create, on the ArtWorks website, a “tool-box” of resources to make it easier for the creative community and real estate owners to come together to use open buildings for temporary “pop-up shops”, art installations, theater or other performances, etc. Initial research has been done, which needs to be expanded upon.  In addition, individuals in the Triangle that have done this successfully need to be interviewed to gain practical information.   The goal would be creation of a set of “tools”, such as checklists, language, resources, video discussions, etc. to post on the site.   The resource will then need to be promoted.  It is assumed that UNC Law student volunteers will do some of this work, but others volunteers are welcome on this project.

Development

Promotional video -ArtWorks needs assistance with creation of a video showing members of the creative community in the Triangle talking about why the community needs ArtWorks, what ArtWorks can do, etc.  The Director will set up contact with the community, but, specifically, ArtWorks will need help with editing and direction in creating of the video.
