by Brandon Cordrey

Are you a working artist without health insurance?  If you are working in Wake County, you need to be aware of the health services offered by Alliance Medical Ministry -a faith-led medical ministry serving the working uninsured in need of affordable health care. Alliance has a full range of services they offer to residents of Wake County who are either employed or live with a family member who is employed, are 18 years or older, and have no health insurance.

Through their Primary Care doctors, Acute Care Clinic, and pharmacy services they can help to keep medical expenses for uninsured individual to a minimum. Their Acute Care Clinic takes patients on a first-come-first-serve basis and for fees as low as $25. They also offer chronic disease management to keep the normally high fees associated with an illness like diabetes at a manageable level. The options they offer are far more sustainable than letting small health issues escalate into an emergency room related issue.

They have volunteer doctors who are specialists acrossthe field, including eye exams for diabetic patients. Through their pharmacy services they educate people about getting medicines that they cannot afford themselves and assist in filling out manufacturer forms.

Alliance Medical Ministry also has a resource center onsite providing information about affordable health care options for all residents of the Triangle.  They provide a full listing of places that specialize in treating uninsured individuals.  Triangle ArtWorks also provides health care resource information on its Health Care page.
