Women in Triangle Theater Discussion Sunday night

Devra Thomas and Sandra Malloy  are spearheading a discussion of the role of women in Triangle Theater.  They have just sent us a press release about this event THIS Sunday night. It looks to be a great program and a discussion that is certainly needed.

In the interest of getting this information out there quickly, I am going to paste much of their press release below, verbatim.

LADIES OF TRIANGLE THEATRE presents:

-DASH-: An Interruption of Triangle Theatre

The newly formed resource group, Ladies of Triangle Theatre (LoTT), presents a livestream event to discuss the state of theatre for women working in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area.  This event will be featured as part of national livestreaming event with #NewPlay TV and @HowlRound.  LoTT will present this roundtable discussion Sunday, July 15th at 7pm hosted by the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, 300 E Main St # G Carrboro, NC 27510.

This moderated discussion is about women’s experiences working in triangle theatre, both supportive and frustrating. We will shine a light on currently producing Artistic Directors who get it right and need our support, and those who need our wisdom and help. From this initial conversation, we hope to be a resource for local companies, to assist in providing quality opportunities for female actors, directors, playwrights, designers, and technicians, ultimately seeking a 50/50 balance of theatre professionals.
